Deals: Realme GT 7 and 7T launch, Xperia 1 VII on pre-order, Galaxy S25 Edge arrives

Several new releases are clamoring for your attention – some come with solid discounts, others not so much. Here’s a closer look at the new offerings. The Realme GT 7 is equipped with a Dimensity 9400e – despite the name, this is closer to the 9300 than it is to the 9400. As we note in our review, the chip is fast, but sustained performance is an issue. Still, you get a lot of hardware for the price. This includes a 6.78” LTPO OLED (120Hz, 1264p+, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, 6,000 nits peak brightness) and a 7,000mAh battery with 120W charging and battery bypass. Battery life is quite...

iPhone 17 to be an underwhelming upgrade

A few hours ago a rumor claimed the iPhone 17 would grow its screen size to 6.3" (from 6.1" in the iPhone 16), matching the Pro model. With this rather significant upgrade in tow, you may have expected the phone to come with other substantial upgrades in other areas as well. But apparently not. According to a new research note by GF Securities analyst Jeff Pu, the iPhone 17 will be powered by the A18 chip, and will have 8GB of RAM. Those are not typos - that's the exact same chipset and RAM amount that its predecessor has. iPhone 16 So, in this regard, the iPhone 17 will just be an...

Oppo Find X8 Ultra bend test doesn't end well

Oppo launched the Find X8 Ultra in April, and unfortunately it's a China-only device so most of the world will never see it. That hasn't stopped Zack from JerryRigEverything getting one in order to perform his famous durability testing on Oppo's latest flagship device. And it's an interesting test to say the least. The frame is metal, the screen takes an open flame for about 35 seconds, but no visible marks remain afterwards. Finally, the...

Realme C71 surfaces in benchmark and certifications

Realme is working on the low-end C71 to succeed the C61 launched last summer. The C71 has been spotted in the Geekbench online database with the model number RMX5303. It's powered by the Unisoc T7250 SoC, formerly known as the Unisoc T615. This is a 4G-only chip, so don't expect the C71 to bring 5G to the table. Then again, the C61 didn't have it either. The C71 has 6GB of RAM, which its predecessor also offered. It will run Android 15 when it launches, with Realme UI on top. The C71 has also been certified for sale in Malaysia by SIRIM, which confirms its aforementioned model...

Samsung's upcoming Galaxy Watch8 and Watch8 Classic have now been certified in China by 3C. This process has revealed the unsurprising news that both of them will get LTE-capable variations. Of course, as you'd expect, both of them have Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, GNSS, NFC, and wireless charging. The Samsung Galaxy Watch8 and Galaxy Watch8 Classic are expected to switch to a squircle-like case design, with the screen remaining round...

Report: Apple considers letting you replace Siri

Apple iPhone users have been using Siri for well over a decade, but this might change. According to Mark Gurman and Drake Bennett from Bloomberg, Apple might allow users to pick another voice assistant for their iPhone, including ChatGPT, Amazon Alexa or Google Gemini. The report explains why Apple is still struggling with the broad implementation of artificial intelligence. One reason is Apple's commitment to user privacy, which is a huge limiter for AI's ability to collect and utilize user data for LLM training. There is also the interrupted rollout of Apple Intelligence, a...
