Huawei Freebuds Pro 2 review

Huawei's latest flagship TWS earphones - the Freebuds Pro 2 - come as a natural evolution of the first Freebuds Pro. They are co-engineered with Devialet and having spent considerable time testing them we are now ready to share what we hope will be some useful impressions. We had the Silver Blue set, which is definitely the belle of the ball - there are also Black and White options for more traditional looks. Picking a bold color for an accessory usually means it will be an accent in one’s apparel, and in this case, the Freebuds Pro 2 in Blue are definitely a head-turner. The case...

Top 10 trending phones of week 30

Nothing's phone (1) kept its crown as the most popular phone in our database for the third week in a row, while Google's Pixel 6a is once again the runner-up. The gap is much smaller this week, though, so we might see a change at the top in week 31. In third we have the Asus Zenfone 9, which made its official debut and finally ended the Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra's streak of consecutive bronze medals. The Samsung flagship settled for fourth, just edging the Redmi Note 11 and the Galaxy A53. There are three Apple smartphones in the final four positions, with the iPhone 13 Pro Max...

Week 30 in review: Zenfone 9 and MatePad Pro 11 official, Pixel 7 leaks

Another week down, let's recap it. The most popular story of the week concerned the camera sensors on the upcoming Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro phones. They'll have the same Samsung GN1 sensor in the main, and Sony IMX381 in the ultrawide camera as the current Pixel 6/6 Pro. But both 7-series Pixels will get bumped to a new autofocusing 11MP Samsung 3J1 selfie module, while the Pixel 7 Pro will upgrade its zoom camera's sensor from the IMX586 to the GM1. The Asus Zenfone 9 is official. It's deliciously compact, but that doesn't impede its performance or its battery endurance. The phone has a...

Huawei Mate Xs 2 in for review

Huawei brought the new foldable Mate Xs 2 back in May, and we were reporting on the ground with first impressions and hands-on experience. Back then the device was in limited supply but now Huawei is bringing it to the store shelves and we got our hands on one unit. The Mate Xs 2 ships in three colors, and our unit is White. The finish on the back is leathery but since the phone folds outwards, the color is more of an afterthought. Still, it feels nice on the hands when the Mate is unfolded. We love how thin the phone is in its base - it is just 5.4 mm, with the camera bump doubling...

Weekly poll: is the Asus Zenfone 9 the perfect phone for you?

Now this is a rare beast – the Asus Zenfone 9 is a small phone with a large battery and a powerful chipset. It really is a beast, in our review it outperformed the Exynos-powered Galaxy S22, SD 8 Gen 1 powered Xiaomi 12 and others. This was in Performance mode and the phone can’t last long at full throttle, but Asus’ new vapor chamber cooling system handled the Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset better than expected. Weekly poll results: iQOO 10 series shows promise, but limited availability is a huge issue

Is 200W charging power too much? No, it’s just right for some of the voters in last week’s poll. However, the iQOO 10 Pro has problems of a different nature – availability. That same issue extends to the vanilla iQOO 10 as well. iQOO is more of a regional brand, its products are available mainly in China and India, leaving out a lot of potential buyers. Parent vivo is certainly not a regional brand, so it can spread iQOO out to new regions if it wanted to, but that is not the strategy it has chosen. However, this means that even though nearly half of voters are interested in the iQOO 10...

Microsoft and Verizon somehow managed to kill the Kin phones twice. The first generation came out in 2010 and was designed by Danger - the company behind the Hiptop (aka T-Mobile Sidekick).
