COVID-19 infected worker reported at Samsung’s home appliance factory in Poland

Samsung revealed earlier today that one of the workers at its home appliances factory in Poland was found to be infected with COVID-19. However, the South Korean consumer electronics giant said that the production at its facility hasn’t been affected due to the detection of the infected worker.

The worker at Samsung’s factory in Wronki, Poland, tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday. Since then, the company has disinfected the whole premises and ordered workers who came in contact with the infected employee to self-isolate. Fourteen workers were reportedly in contact with the infected employee at the plant.

Samsung said that its Polish plant is currently operating normally and that the production is unaffected as the worker who is infected with the novel coronavirus had not come to the facility since last week and stayed at home. The facility is used for manufacturing refrigerators and washing machines.

The company’s factory in Poland was closed in May after a virus-related case was reported there. Samsung had to close various factories, research labs, and stores around the world after the COVID-19 was declared a pandemic. Recently, the company set up its own COVID-19 testing center at its chip facility in South Korea.
